The Wildermuth Stream and Floodplain Wetland Restoration was completed in 2014 to provide enhanced flood storage, reduce nutrient loads, and improve habitat and water quality at a 29-acre site in West Chester Township. This spring we will be celebrating the project’s success during a grand opening tour. The community is invited to tour the site with Apex Companies and the Council to explore the project features and learn about the success of the restoration.
We are looking for volunteers to help us establish native vegetation and stabilize the streambank of a recently completed 20-acre wetland floodplain in West Chester Township. Join us to harvest and plant willow stakes in the floodplain wetland on April 25! The area may be muddy so please wear boots or other closed-toed work shoes and dress for the weather.
The Mill Creek Yacht Club hosted its 21st annual stream cleanup in Reading on Friday, April 17. We had a total of 25 volunteers, including an enthusiastic group from P&G!
Are you interested in volunteering with a passionate group of citizen scientists in the Mill Creek Watershed? The Mill Creek Volunteer Water Quality Monitoring Program is in its third year of collecting and analyzing water samples. This hands-on program is open to anyone interested in getting involved regardless of experience. Our water quality monitors are the eyes and ears of the Mill Creek and help us to provide comprehensive water quality data.
