Storm Water Management

Storm Water Management

The Council is actively promoting Rain Gardens and green design to address storm water quantity and quality concerns. In 2006, the Council installed a Rain Garden at Hilltop Elementary in Reading and worked with local stakeholders to launch the
Greater Cincinnati Rain Garden Alliance.

The Greater Cincinnati Rain Garden Alliance is a coalition of local public officials, design and engineering professionals, park districts, storm water managers and master gardeners working together to promote green design. The Alliance will hold technical training and public outreach to encourage the installation of Rain Gardens to capture runoff from impervious surfaces.

A Green Business Program and public outreach for Phase II Storm Water Permit requirements is being implemented for the City of Reading. The Council plans to expand this service to other communities in the watershed.
