Watershed and Water Quality Management
The Council is implementing a public education campaign to promote environmentally-sound
yard care practices in the Upper Mill Creek (supported by an NLT Foundation grant). Keep an eye out for our media campaign this Spring!
The Watershed Council supports efforts to enhance riparian greenways and recreational opportunities along the Mill Creek and its tributaries. We are working to assist
landowners in restoring and protecting stream, floodplain, and wetland sites impacted by changing watershed conditions. The Council will expand the
site mitigation database to help connect landowners to financial and technical resources for stream mitigation work.
Education and outreach by the Council for the OKI Upper Mill Creek TMDL 319 Grant includes training workshops and manuals on water quality best management
practices targeted to three groups: local government, residents, and business owners.
Under the same Upper Mill Creek 319 grant, plans are being made to redesign tradition storm water retention ponds along the Mill Creek at the West Chester Service Center. OKI is the project sponsor and West Chester Township is the project host. Restoration begins in Spring 2008. Click here to read more.
